Khayal Masrah is an experimental theatre project offering training and development in devised drama and collective creation.
The 2020 programme explores proto-science-fiction from ancient and classical literature that may have foretold our zeitgeist. This grassroots initiative focuses on the production of original work by members of the community, beyond pressure of materialistic results. The project counts on partners to consider “l’art pour l’art” (art for art’s sake). |
#StayHome update
We will be offering a free online version of our devised theatre workshop due to start on 14 May 2020.
We will work on design and adaptation of ancient science-fi for 20-minute short-form creations. Training exercises will include fun and creative activities on Zoom. We will keep flexible on workshop duration to best accommodate groups, but first propose a 6-week span. We will manage the creative process via Dropbox shared folders for small teams of adults 18+. No prior experience necessary, but a notion of modern theatre practices a plus :) To join, please write to: [email protected] by May 7. You will be sent an application form and introduction material. |
The pioneer group is under no obligation to join future paid programmes. At the same time, they will receive preferential treatment for future live projects if they choose to join the group again when theatre as we know it resumes. We offer 50% reduction to “test pilots” for any future workshops they choose to create theatre live as a group in Dubai when circumstances allow; this to cover rental, materials, and any guest tutors.
